Modern times have brought many new challenges for humanity and especially for Muslim world. These challenges are both at home and at international level. But it is unfortunate that traditional institutions have failed in genuine contribution for the solution of prevalent problems and proper response to the contemporary challenges. Furthermore, the traditional religious institutions have created a divide in the society. The new generation should be educated and trained through modern educational institutes so that understanding of Islamic teachings towards contemporary issues may be enhanced.

The Department of Islamic Studies with the same vision and objectives is doing strenuous efforts so that we may produce such learned scholars for society who have grip on the tradition and may have a mature understanding of the contemporary issues with a clear and perfect skill in the modern thoughts and academic approaches. These scholars will be able to present Islam in accordance with its real spirit before society. The Department is unique among all Punjab Public Sector colleges as it provides the students with requisite knowledge to understand Islam in contemporary scenario and enables them to face the challenges posed to Muslims in this era of globalization.

The Department of Islamic studies adopts multidisciplinary approach which enables the students to engage in research oriented activities. The Department aims at promoting religious tolerance, interfaith harmony and to remove gender inequalities wrongly attributed to the religion Islam. Research-oriented lectures, conferences, seminars, academic visits and other related activities along with faculty's pursuit for higher education is a commendable feature of the Department. We also encourage fostering of linkages and maintaining scholarly and cultural ties with other universities, organizations and with people involved in studies of Islamic Sciences. These include academic specialists, legal practitioners and members of government and non-government organizations.

The Department opens new vistas for students to take up internships in the fields of Islamic Law, Islamic Banking and Finance, teaching and research. It integrates humanistic and religious knowledge to address any social issue and concentrates on grooming students who can make humane decisions and possess key competencies in Islamic education, personal development and lifelong learning. The Department seeks to produce literate women who have a good knowledge of Islam to have a positive effect both on their personal lives as well as on universal human society.
