Message of Dean of Arts and Social Sciences
Education at a college even in an undergraduate programme is special in that it gives students a unique opportunity to learn from and even work alongside some of the most eminent scholars in their academic areas. Innovation in teaching and learning, coupled with rigorous research and evaluation, is becoming a signature of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Govt. Jinnah Islamia College Sialkot. The objective of the teachers is to develop in their students’ critical and analytical thinking so that the students become lifelong learners. Rather than imparting mere information, college teaching aims at enabling students to become independent thinkers and at encouraging them to explore crucial questions. It is a rigorous process in which learning and discovery truly blossom.
As the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, it is matter immense pleasure for me to serve the largest and most diverse Faculty and to work with the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the wider community to build a stimulating learning and research environment. What we do in Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is framed by two basic commitments; to help develop an engaged and informed citizenry academically trained for a life actively involved in civic and public spheres; and to equip students with the knowledge and skill-sets they need to take advantage of the diverse work opportunities that will come their way as well as to adapt to an environment that will change over the course of their life.
An effort to understand and harmonize the deeply valued norms of culture and society with the modern technological and scientific developments is essential for the progress of our future generations with a balanced approach to life. Our passion is to provide the students with an exceptional environment to pursue their studies in a wide variety of programs. With specialized and innovative curricula, skill based training and rich exposure to extracurricular activities; we prepare our students for lie both in and beyond college.
